Bio

My name is Michael Moya, and I am from Whittier, California.  This is my 5th year of teaching, and my 1st year teaching at St. Luke Catholic School.  Growing up, I was inspired to be a teacher through helping my dad in his classroom. I attended University of Northern Colorado, where I received my B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies. After graduating from UNCO, I moved back to my hometown. I acquired my Clear Credential through Santa Ana Unified School District. I started subbing in HLPUSD and eventually became a Reading Interventionist at Lassalette Elementary in La Puente, California. After 2 years, I became a 3rd grade teacher at School of Our Lady in Santa Ana.
I feel blessed to be at St. Luke Catholic School, where the students are inspiring and families offer the kindest support!  My favorite thing about teaching is helping the students I teach to grow and succeed.  In 4th grade, this growth might mean finally reading a chapter book, making a new friend who helps you when you aren't feeling great, solving a math problem after many attempts, or knowing how to be a good listener by setting an example for others.  Whatever it is, each student comes to 4th grade at the beginning of the year with so much potential to learn and grow.  I feel privileged to not only help make that learning come alive, but to get to know the students along their path of growing in 4th grade.  I am excited for the year ahead!
